About Warner Howell
When I was a little girl, we would eat dinner at my grandparents’ house every Sunday. After dinner, I would creep into my grandmother’s bedroom and into her closet and pillage the shit out of it.
Her name was Scottie Marie Howell Warner. We called her Momma Scottie. I loved the clothes and bags and shoes my Momma Scottie collected. She had a simple but elegant style. Sophisticated but interesting. Unique but classy. The clothes weren’t busy, but people would notice.
When I was a teenager, my grandmother took it up a notch on her clothing game when she began working at a local boutique in our town’s little square. Through layaway, her store discount, and her paycheck, she would buy me key pieces that I could use for pictures and events while I was in high school.
My love of fashion stems from her style and her sacrifice to help me look my best.
Together…we are Warner Howell.

Inspiration
Scottie Marie Howell Warner was my grandmother…and the reason Warner Howell exists.
Some of my earliest memories are of watching her work at our family’s store in Big Creek, Mississippi—the Warner Store. A rural convenience shop where farmers drifted in and out, where the air smelled like dust and groceries, and where she held everything together with a quiet steadiness.
During my teenage years, she took a job at a small boutique in nearby Calhoun City called The MiLady Shoppe. She dressed differently there — polished and intentional in that understated Southern way that didn’t need words or labels. After school, I’d wander with her among the racks, watching her help women find something that made them feel good. If I needed a dress for church or a school performance, she’d put it on layaway and pay it off in time for me to wear it.
Momma Scottie’s home was my first fashion playground. Sunday evenings after family dinners meant slipping into her closet, trying on her jackets, her blouses, her scarves, her costume jewelry—digging through drawers of pieces that felt like pure treasure. And no matter how many times I went through it, week after week, I always found something new. She showed me that style isn’t about abundance or keeping up with trends; it’s about choosing pieces that feel true to you and stand the test of time.
Warner Howell carries her name because it carries her legacy. Her discipline. Her resilience. Her elegance was evident whether she was behind a dusty counter or under the lights of a tiny boutique in a small Mississippi town.
This brand is built on that lineage… the belief that simplicity is powerful, that black clothing speaks volumes, and that a wardrobe can be both armor and art. Warner Howell is my way of honoring the woman who shaped my understanding of style — one borrowed jacket, one dress on layaway, one treasure lifted from her dresser drawer at a time.
